Mid-Week Farmers Market to Begin in Grayson Next Month

The market, which will be from 4 - 8 p.m. on a Wednesday, will be hosted by the Grayson Arts & History Center.

According to Grayson officials, the Grayson Arts & History Center will be hosting a weekly farmers market in the city on Wednesdays, beginning in June. The Grayson Farmers' Market will run through August, starting on Wednesday, June 5. Market hours are 4-8 p.m.

After putting out feelers, organizers managed to garner enough interest to plan for it to begin this year. Vendor pricing is $75 for the 13-week season if signed up by June 1st. After that, vendor sites are available at $10 per week.

Gail Lane, Grayson DDA Downtown Development Manager, who has helped with advice, said the Grayson Farmers Market has commitments from about 20 licensed vendors who will bring fresh produce, meat, cheeses, baked goods and doggie treats to the Grayson Community for the mid-week market. David Moose, who is coordinating the market with local vendors, expects there to be more as word gets out.

"We are still building our core group of volunteers to make this a phenomenal "Grayson Experience," Lane said.

Moose approached the city several weeks ago representing vendors who were looking for a mid-week outlet. Mayor Jim Hinkle reached out to Gretchen Schulz, one of the organizers for Snellville's award-winning farmers' market, for help in the logistics. With her advice in hand, and with the slate of vendors interested in positioning a market in Grayson, officials were able to pull it together rather quickly.
