Woman Blames YouTube for Boyfriend's Refusal to Comply With Police

A man who had been pulled over in Loganville was cited for disorderly conduct because he repeatedly questioned police and wouldn't obey their orders.

A woman explained to Loganville Police last weekend that YouTube is to blame for her boyfriend refusing to obey simple police orders.

According to the police report, the 25-year-old Lilburn man was driving down Lee Byrd Road at 50 miles per hour in a 35 mile-per-hour zone. His 8-month-old daughter was in the backseat.

The driver's window had been down when the officer initiated a traffic stop and walked up to the vehicle, but the man decided to roll it up so only a few inches were open.

Since the window was tinted, the officer asked him to roll it down, but the driver refused.

"He stated, 'I can hear you and I guess you can hear me,'" the officer wrote in the report.

The officer asked again, and the driver rolled it down a few more inches. Additional backup was requested.

Due to the man's defiance, the driver was asked to step out of the Grand Prix, but he refused that order, too. The officer then said he had to step out of the vehicle, but he only asked why and demanded to know the reason for the traffic stop.

The driver finally stepped out, and the officer asked for his driver's license, but surprise, surprise, the driver asked why. After the officer asked again, the driver repeated that he wanted to know why he was stopped.

He finally produced his driver's license. After the officer told him he was speeding, the driver demanded to see the radar speed gun, but the officer said there's no obligation to show him the radar. The officer asked if he wanted an accuracy check of the speed gun, but the driver only repeated that he wanted to see the gun.

While his citation was being written out, the driver told other on-scene Loganville officers that they didn't know the law and the stop was unconstitutional. He also said his father was an attorney, but police discovered later that he was actually in sales.

The driver was told several times to be still and stop walking around, but he neglected the orders.

"Every time he was told to do something, he refused and did whatever he wanted," says the report. "He was laughing and thought everything was funny and a joke."

He was handcuffed and placed in the backseat of the patrol car on a disorderly conduct charge.

The apologies then started coming. The suspect apologized for his actions and asked several times to be released.

Police contacted his girlfriend to pick up the vehicle and their infant child. At one point, the driver was uncuffed and allowed to take care of his daughter, but was cuffed again when the mother arrived.

The officer informed her of the situation, and with every offense that was brought up, she said he had "seen what to do from YouTube." He apparently watches videos and "takes what he sees as fact," says the report.

The man was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, speeding and license to be examined on demand.
