Off-Duty Deputy Saves Seniors From Loganville Fire

Deputy Tim Kutsch was given an award after battling the fire at Choice Care Senior Living Facility on Highway 20.

A Rockdale County Sheriff's deputy was given his department's highest lifesaving award Friday (Oct. 11) after saving six elderly Alzheimer's patients from a fire at their Loganville senior care home Thursday (Oct. 10). 

According to reports by WSB-TV, Deputy Tim Kutsch was driving home from work when he saw the fire from the Choice Care Senior Living Facility at 4930 Highway 20. He radioed for help, got out of his car and battled the smoke and flames to help everyone out of the home, where six patients and their caregiver liv.

Firefighters arrived, and the six elderlies were taken to the hospital. Many are in the ICU but are expected to live, according to the article.
