Attempted Armed Robbery in Loganville
Police are asking for help in locating a man who was seen running from Athens First Bank and Trust in Loganville Tuesday morning with one shoe missing. He was carrying a handgun.
Loganville Police are looking for a man who attempted to rob the Athens First Bank and Trust early Tuesday morning.
“What we know is that he is a black male, about 5 foot 10 - 6 foot, thin, and he was last seen wearing dark pants and jacket and a light colored stocking cap – the kind with flaps that come down over your ears,” said Lt. Mike Westbrooks of the Loganville Police Department. “He was also wearing material of some sort covering his mouth.”
Westbrooks confirmed that the witness, a bank employee arriving early to open up, did see a gun in the man’s hand .

“Video surveillance was able to confirm that he did have a handgun in his right hand as he ran off,” Westbrooks said. “He also left behind a bag and one of his tennis shoes. He was crouched behind a bush behind the bank when she arrived. Something appeared to spook him before he was ever able to do anything. That was very lucky for the witness."
Trinity Christian Academy, next to the bank, was put on lockdown as police and the Gwinnett K-9 unit canvassed the area for the suspect. At this time he has not been located.
