Sound Equipment, flat screen TV stolen from Sharon Baptist Church sanctuary and freezer and several small kitchen appliances stolen from the church fellowship hall.
Walton County Sheriff's Deputies were called to Sharon Baptist Church on Wednesday, May 15, 2013, after church members arrived to find that the sanctuary and fellowship hall of the church had been burglarized. According to a WCSO incident report, members arrived to find a stool and a chair in front of the door. They found that the back door had been pried open and a flat screen TV and sound equipment had been stolen. Deputies were called back a little later when church members found that the fellowship hall had been hit by theives as well. Items stolen from the fellowship hall included several small kitchen appliances, flatware, a 30 inch chest freezer, charcoal, garbage cans, a pressure cooker and other items, including consumables. Walton County Sheriff’s deputies are investigating a hit and run that happened on Bay Creek Road on April 30.

One of the many calls the Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to during the last two days of April included a hit and run on Bay Creek Road in Zone 5. According to the WCSO Zone Alerts, the vehicle involved in the hit and run was a silver Ford Ranger, so identified by parts left behind. The complainant identified it as a silver early 2000’s model that is missing the front plastic bumper skirt. Damage should also be on the passenger side front fender area of the vehicle. The Walton County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following incidents between April 23-28, 2013: Zone 1 Suspicious Person – A black subject with “dreadlocks” was seen leaving a property on Turner Ridge Drive. The subject was driving a Toyota pickup truck. Zone 2 Suspicious Person – A suspicious person knocked on the door to a residence on County Line Rd. requesting help with a broken down vehicle. Deputies made contact with the subject. The driver was arrested, after attempting to flee, for an outstanding warrant. Zone 3 Theft – A compressor was taken from a residence on Harry Arnold Rd. Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman expressed his concern recently about changes to the Walton County ordinances that no longer require a permit being issued for anyone to solicit in county neighborhoods. His concerns were evidenced in the most recent Zone Alerts warning residents about people going door-to-door claiming to be employees of ADT Alarm Systems. While the alert doesn’t say whether or not the people were legitimately employed by ADT, it does note that one of the subjects was arrested on outstanding warrants. In another of the alerts, a suspicious person checked out by WCSO deputies turned out to be someone legitimately delivering the Atlanta Journal Constitution.
