Buy Local or Risk the Wrath of Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman

A tongue-in-cheek Youtube video, starring Walton County Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Jimmy Parker and Sheriff Joe Chapman, showing why it is important for Walton County residents to shop local.

With Black Friday almost done, now is the time to get the important shopping done – on Small Business Saturday. At the November chamber luncheon, Walton County Chamber of Commerce Board Chairman Jimmy Parker explained how important it is to the Walton County community that residents keep their dollars at home. He said that $1 spent in Walton County generates between $5 and $14 or $15 worth of economic impact to the local community. Spend it outside the county, however, and somewhere between zero and 20 cents ever gets back to the local community. At the meeting, Parker also was named the chamber's Person of the Month for his contribution to the Walton County community. Born and raised in Walton County, even before agreeing to step in and …

This is the second year that the City of Grayson has issued a proclamation in support of the city's small businesses. “Small business are the backbone of our economy and the glue that holds communities together,” the proclamation reads, going on to say it is appropriate that a day be designated for citizens to express their appreciation and show support to the businesses in the community. In signing the proclamation, Grayson’s mayor and city council …

Patch Partners Supports Small Businesses

AOL Chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong gives advice to small business owners via Patch Partners.

There are hundreds of small businesses in the local area. Some of them may be places you and your family frequent, businesses that have been in the local area for as long as you can remember. And some may be your go-to places instead of national chains. AOL Chairman and CEO Tim Armstrong may stand behind a global brand, but he believes in the power of small businesses. In his recent interview with Patch Partners, a website connecting business owners to Patch in local communities, he offered his insight into what can set a small business above the rest of the competition. How to Avoid the Online Grinches on Cyber Monday

The Better Business Bureau offers tips on how to avoid giving online hackers and scammers a shopping bonanza this Christmas shopping season.

If you didn’t get gifts for everybody on your list on Black Friday or Small Business Saturday, don’t despair, there’s always Cyber Monday. In fact, according to shopping experts, that has now become the most popular day to shop for the holidays — and why not? That way you get to avoid all the crowds. Don't Get Caught Holding the Gift

The BBB offers tips on Black Friday shopping to ensure you don't get caught with a gift someone doesn't want, and one you can't exchange.

Shopping List? Check! Credit cards? Check! Cash? Check? Car keys? Check! Now that you're ready to head out to join fellow shoppers in crowded malls on Black Friday, do you have everything you need? The Better Business Bureau suggests you give yourself an early gift before joining the frenzied masses — the gift of knowledge. In a press release, the BBB said this knowledge could save time, frustration and, most importantly, money. “Consumers should know that in the state of Georgia companies are allowed to establish their own policies regarding refunds, exchanges and store credits,” the press release reads. “In many firms, no such policies exist. No company is required by law to allow a customer the right to return or exchange merchandise no…
