Beaudreau Requesting Recount

The District 3 Commissioner is seeking a recount after falling 56 votes short of re-election against Tommy Hunter.

Current Gwinnett County Commissioner Mike Beaudreau is seeking a recount following a close runoff election earlier this month. Gwinnett County's Communication Director Joe Sorenson has confirmed this news in an email to Patch. The Gwinnett County Republican Party first announced on their Facebook page Monday that Beaudreau is requesting the recount. Beaudreau currently is tailing opponent Tommy Hunter in last Tuesday's runoff election by just 56 votes.  The Gwinnett GOP says the recount will begin Tuesday, August 28th at 4pm at Elections Headquarters in Lawrenceville. Gwinnett County Commission Seat, Two Judicial Races to be Decided by Runoff

Gwinnett County Commission District 3 race as well as Gwinnett Superior Court and State Court positions will be decided in today's runoff election.

Gwinnett voters will decide three races in today's runoff election - the Gwinnett County District 3 Commission seat and two Gwinnett County judgeships will occur Tuesday, Aug. 21.  In the Gwinnett County District 3 race, incumbent Mike Beaudreau will face challenger Tommy Hunter. Beaudreau, who is seeking his third term, fell just short of the majority vote needed to win outright during the July 31 primary. Tracey Mason Blasi and Kathy Schrader are vying for the Gwinnett Superior Court judgeship being vacated by retiring Judge K. Dawson Jackson.  Blasi, a Lawrenceville attorney, is a former Duluth Municipal Court judge. Schrader, a Duluth attorney and mediator, is a past president of the Gwinnett Bar Association. Beaudreau Responds to Anonymous Robo-Call Attack

Beaudreau says claims in call are “completely false.”

On July 10, an unknown number of voters in Gwinnett County District 3 received an anonymous call urging them to “Vote no on Beaudreau.” In the recorded message, a female voice said it is time for honest leadership on the county commission and accused current District 3 county commissioner Mike Beaudreau of voting to spend more than $1 million “to subsidize and study expanding the county airport.”  The caller claimed the county spent “hundreds of thousands of dollars” in legal fees and staff time on the issue. “Worst of all,” the message continued, “Beaudreau wasted our money during a time we needed it most to pay for police and basic services.” The anonymous caller further criticized Beaudreau for the county trash plan. “We need straight …
