Some Reassurance on Why the World Won't End Today

Ben Cathey, pastor of the Orchard Church in Loganville gives his prediction on whether or not the world will end on the Dec. 21, 2012 Doomsday prediction.

So will the world end right before Christmas? The Mayan’s said so!  This one is for real y’all!  The world is going to end today.  This one was not predicted by some crazy preacher or wannabe prophet seeking attention, fame, or wealth.  No, this one was predicted by something a lot less crazy than that.  The Mayan calendar is ending today.  It’s serious.  NBC news reports that over 33 schools in Michigan’s Lapeer Community have closed two days early for Christmas break because of doomsday fears, the fresh memory of the tragedy in Newtown, CT, and rampant local twitter posts like “Friday would be a great day to go out with a bang!”  How sad, how crazy!  I have to admit that sometimes it does feel like the world is coming to an end.  We …

Are You Throwing or Attending an End of Days Party on 12-21-12?

Some say it's the End of Days and others say it's just the Winter Solstice, but an excuse for a party anyway. So will you be attending or having or attending an End of Days Party on 12-21-21?

There's a popular rumor that the world will end on Dec. 21, 2012 when a 5,125-year period known as the Long Count in the Mayan calendar supposedly comes to a close. But those in the real know say it's just like when your calendar hits the end of the year - you get a new one. But for those who take the most dramatic interpretation of the day, it has spurred fears of apocalypse, solar storms, meteors, polar realignments, UFOs and other doomsday predictions. While conspiracy theorists are stocking up on supplies and survival gear and true believers are panicking, most will just recognize that the day is Winter Solstice and the shortest day of the year - all excuses to have a party anyway. No way. My Bible says the "world" does not end. The Earth must go through some changes, but the time has not yet come for all that......so the Mayans didn't have the facts straight. I would not dignify their errors with my presence at any "end of the world" event.   more ›
