The City of Loganville's June work session is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. July 9, at City Hall. It's a light agenda, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will be a short meeting. Sparring between Mayor Ray Nunley and Councilman Mike Jones, himself mayor of the city in years past, has disrupted many of the meetings this year. Although not yet at the level of neighboring Snellville, Loganville city council meetings are fast becoming a power struggle between Jones and Nunley. The dissent between the two resulted in Jones resigning from his committee appointments last month, claiming that Nunley wants to do everything himself. City officials are looking at opening up an entrance to the Loganville Post Office from Pecan Street as a way to take pressure off on the intersection at Highway 78 and Logan Drive.
City officials are looking at opening up a second entrance to the Loganville Post Office from Pecan Street as a way to take some pressure off the Intersection on Highway 78 at Logan Drive. “That is the worst intersection in Loganville,” said Councilman Mike Jones when he made the suggestion. Jones is the chairman of the city’s public works and buildings and grounds. “We can look at doing a back entrance to Pecan Street to come in at the back of the post office. It would take some of the traffic off the entrance at the intersection by IHOP. When you get traffic coming into IHOP, it is bad and it is only getting worse.” Councilman Dan Curry said he believed there might be a problem with the ability of Pecan Street to carry the extra traffic …

Probably because of the fact that Highway 78 passes through Loganville in the heart of the commercial area, but officials say that 5 of the 10 most dangerous intersections in Walton County were in Loganville. This intersection and a couple of others in Gwinnett County are pretty dangerous too.   more ›
