Snellville Police advised residents to avoid the area near Scenic Highway and Henry Clower Boulevard.
According to an alert from Snellville Police, a sink hole has occurred on Scenic Highway south of Henry Clower Boulevard in the north bound lanes. It is reportedly 8 feet deep and covers the whole of the right turning lane. Snellville Police Lt. McKinney told Patch that a Walton EMC truck was driving on Scenic Highway and saw the road just open up in front of him. Fortunately he was able to avoid the hole and contact police. Snellville Patch will update this story as more information is made available. All lanes except the turning lane at Henry Clower were open by 8:10 p.m. Wednesday.
Tim Stewart Funeral Homes laid a wreath in honor of police officers who lost their lives protecting Gwinnett County citizens.

In honor of Peace Officers Memorial Day on Wednesday and Police Week, Tim and Gay Stewart of Tim Stewart Funeral Homes laid a wreath at the Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville. The wreath was placed in front of the wall dedicated to the 15 officers from police departments in Gwinnett County who lost their lives on the job. Officers from local police agencies and the Gwinnett County Sheriff's Office were on hand for the ceremony. The Gwinnett County Police Department also held a ceremony Wednesday. Officials with the city of Loganville honored two local residents, members of Loganville Fire Department Station 16 and Walton County EMT Troy Willard and EMS Russell Cook for saving the life of a cardiac patient.
After going into cardiac arrest at the First Baptist Church of Loganville on March 14, 2013, Robert Barganier believes his life was saved by divine intervention. He also believes that intervention came at the hand of two caregivers on the scene as well as members of Loganville Fire Department and Walton County EMS. “None of it would have happened without the hand of the Lord,” Barganier said at a ceremony in Loganville commending those who were involved in the rescue. Police say the incident took place at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday, May 12 in unincorporated Gwinnett near Snellville.
Police believe a man stabbed his girlfriend, then shot himself in the head after an apparent domestic argument early Sunday morning in unincorporated Gwinnett between Snellville and Loganville. The woman, who was stabbed in the back, survived the attack, but the man died, according to a media alert emailed by Gwinnett Police Cpl. Michele Pihera. “The death of the male is being investigated as a suicide. The female is not a suspect in his death,” Pihera reported. The incident occurred after midnight Sunday morning, May 12, in the 3800 block of White Pine Road, near the intersection of Centerville Rosebud Road and Lenna Drive. A Loganville man found out the hard way last month why it is always better to remove a label from a new pair of jeans before wearing them out - particularly to a store that carries the same brand. Walton County Sheriff's Office has put out an alert on behalf of the Newton County Sheriff's Office for Jordan Marie Aaron, Alias of Krystal Lee Rhoades, W/F, brown hair, blue eyes, 5’07, 154. Jordan Marie Aaron, 13, was last seen at 9pm Wednesday, May 1 2013. When her parents went in to her room around 6am on the Thursday, May 2, the teen was not in her bed. Gwinnett County Police Department confirm that Kristin Carter Barr and Tara Ray Ritter, both of 3215 Wrenwood Court, Loganville, were arrested on April 30 and charged with 2nd degree forgery. According to the GCPD incident report, members of the Gwinnett County Narcotics Unit served a search warrant at the address in Loganville. During the search, methamphetamine residue allegedly was located as well as counterfeit currency and the materials used to produce counterfeit currency. GCPD public information officer, Cpl. Jake Smith, said the investigation is ongoing. He said it is part of a drug investigation, not a larger forgery or fraud investigation.
