A Loganville farmer may not be raising goats any more, but he still manages to get a related product, goat cheese, to the market, including the Suwanee Farmers Market. Mussgenug Dairy Farm of Loganville has 10 flavors of goat cheese that are available to patrons. A 6 ounce container is $8 at local farmers markets. According to Michael Boland, who was manning the booth recently in Suwanee, farmer David Moose of Loganville makes the goat cheese by hand. He buys the curd by the bolt from a regional farm, then adds the flavoring himself. Available flavors include "10 pepper" and "garlic basil." STOVALL - Roy Frank Stovall, age 44 of Monroe, passed away on Sunday, May 19, 2013. A Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 PM on Friday, May 24, 2013 at The Orchard Church, 1950 Hwy 81 S, Loganville, GA 30052. Pastor Ben Cathey & Rev. Scott Sims will officiate. The family will receive friends from 3 - 4:30 PM at the Church. Roy was born to the late Pamela Jeanette Court & Gilford Albert Stovall on June 10, 1968, in Houston, Texas. He was a master welder who traveled throughout the southeast welding natural gas pipeline. There has been many a report of college grads taking menial jobs during the recent economic downturn. Yet others have moved back in with parents, unable to support themselves or pay off college loans. According to a story in The Daily Mail, New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, famous for his nanny tactics with constituents by making laws restricting what he considers bad habits, is now suggesting that not everybody go to college. But does he have a point? The Daily Mail reported that Bloomberg, speaking on his weekly radio show on May 17, suggested that students who aren’t necessarily top of their class should rather go to trade school than take on an expensive college degree. The Georgia Department of Education released the 2012 graduation rates on May 21, 2013. Gwinnett County Public Schools's rate increased more than three percentage points on average.
Gwinnett County's graduation rate increased more than three percentage points -- from 67.56 in 2011 to 70.98 percent in 2012, according to data released this week from the state Department of Education. In comparison, state averages increased from 67.44 percent in 2011 to 69.72 percent in 2012. In both years, Gwinnett County beat the state average. However, while Grayson High School gained ground, moving from 80.41 to 81.75 from 2011 to 2012 and South Gwinnett High School made moderate gains from 62.01 to 62.72, Archer High School's graduation rate went down. Archer graduated 79.49 percent of its seniors in 2011 and 75.92 in 2012. By comparison, Walton County Public Schools graduated 74.2 percent of its seniors in 2012. -- See the chart …
