In Pictures: Summer Manna' Program Reaches Over 300 Kids a Day

The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry is raming up efforts this year to combat childhood hunger in Snellville.

The Southeast Gwinnett Cooperative Ministry has been in full swing this summer, bringing lunches to children in low-income areas.  The program operates out of Snellville United Methodist's Heritage Hall.  

earlier this summer and highlighted their need for food, which is ongoing.  

The program is only in its first year, and volunteers are still "working out the kinks," according to volunteer Donna Rector. 

"We're learning as we go," she added.

At 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, volunteers signed in and discussed who would go where.  The atmosphere was one of excitement and humility. The group then prayed together and went their separate ways.  

Snellville Patch followed one crew out to the Smokecreek community, a few miles south of town, where over 100 children receive lunches Monday-Friday.
