Is It Really So Hot You Can Fry An Egg Outside?

We decided to find out.

(Editor's Note: This was an experiment from our Brookhaven Patch. As you can see, hot as it was, it really wasn't "hot enough to fry an egg on the sidewalk." We're asking if anyone can prove that here in Loganville or Grayson, it got enough to do so this weekend. Send us your videos - the first egg genuinely fried on the pavement in Loganville or Grayson is in line for Patch swag).

From Brookhaven Patch

At 2:15 at my Brookhaven residence, the outside thermometer read over 100 degrees.

And the thermometer is in the shade ...

So, with the help of my nine-year-old assistant, we decided to try the old Southern-inspired experiment of frying an egg on the sidewalk (actually, it was my driveway, but the idea is still the same ... the concrete had been baking in the sun since early this morning.)

Check out the video to see the result.

Wait til 7 p.m., that's when it should be hottest!

I was a bit surprised at the outcome! A real "Patch Mythbusters" test!

When I drove to the store yesterday, I think you could have fried an egg on my toes on the gas pedal.
