Dodd, Alexis Are Area's Fastest in Peachtree Road Race

More than 57,000 runners participated in the popular 4th of July road race.

Kyle Dodd and Kenyrik Alexis were the area’s fastest runners in the 2012 Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race, Atlanta’s popular Fourth of July foot race.

According to unofficial results posted Wednesday afternoon by the Atlanta Track Club, Dodd, 42, was the fastest among Loganville registrants, finishing 290th overall in a time of 38 minutes, 13 seconds.

Alexis, 45, was Grayson’s fastest, finishing 326th overall in a time of 38:34.

Kenyan Peter Kirui won the 10-kilometer race through Midtown Atlanta with a time of 27:37. Mamitu Chepkurui of Ethiopia was the women’s overall winner in 32:22.
