South Gwinnett Graduate on Roster for Atlanta Steam, Women's Football League

The women's league formerly known as the Lingerie Football League plans to debut in Gwinnett in April.

The Legends Football League, which until recently was known as the Lingerie Football League, has announced the roster for the Atlanta Steam on its website. The women's football league plans to open play in April 2013 in Gwinnett.

Former Arena Football League player Ray Norell is the head coach.

South Gwinnett graduate Alexandria Stone, 24, is among the 20 women on the team. She is described as tall, versatile, strong and that she plays angry. Her Facebook fan page says that she is looking to local small businesses for support, so if you want Stone to "promote your clothing line, marketing or suggest your business," contact her at StoneLFL34@gmail.com.

Stone, of Snellville, was one of hundreds of women to vie for a spot on the team.

In the LFL, football is seven on seven, with no kickoffs, punts or field goals.

The Atlanta franchise will debut in the Gwinnett Arena on Saturday, April 13, vs. Omaha. Tickets are $15-75, according to the information on the Gwinnett Arena events calendar. A second Steam game is scheduled for Saturday, May 18, vs. Cleveland.

to brand itself as more than a gimmick. Uniforms now are labeled as "performance wear."

Also on the LFL website, power rankings had the Atlanta team as No. 9 in the 12-team league, although the Steam is a first-year team.

Do you plan to attend any Atlanta Steam games in Gwinnett? Do you know any of the players?
