The SE Co-Op is a non-profit organization that supports those in the community in need of food and assistance. This ministry is operated 100 percent through donations and is staffed by volunteers.

According to Emily, almost every classroom donated food items for a grand total of 1,225 canned goods. In addition to the food drive, Emily also sold blow pops to raise money for a cash donation for Co-op. Through this additional effort Emily raised a total of $445.00.

“I have been dedicated to this project and have enjoyed carrying out this fundraiser,” said Emily, “I hope that I have raised more awareness among the students at Starling about the Southeast Co-op.”

To help collect as many cans as possible, the classrooms competed for prizes. (Jennifer) Thompson’s first-grade class placed third with 38 items and (Erica) Lammey’s first-grade class placed second with 75 items donated. These two classes received a “bonus blow pop” for their efforts. With Emily’s help, (Jennifer) Barnes’ fifth-grade class took first place with 456 items collected and will enjoy an ice cream sundae party for their victory!

Congratulations to Emily and all of the students at Starling Elementary for their amazing efforts and contributions to the Southeast Gwinnett Co-Op.
