Trinity Prep Moving to New Location

A new facility off Commerce Drive will be bigger and fit the needs of the school better.

Trinity Prep School in Loganville is almost complete with building its new location.

The all-ages, 200-student private school has outgrown its currently locations, with its smaller kids being housed on Hodges Drive for 15 years and the older kids at its Highway 78 space for the last three years. Sitting on 9 acres of land, the new school is much bigger at 22,000 square feet and is located at 2213 Commerce Drive across Claude's Off The Bayou restaurant.

"We have a lot more room to grow," said Tammy Moore, the president and owner of Trinity Prep. "We've been needing this for a long time."

Moore explained that the new location will be custom-built to their needs, too. She described the current classroom structure as being "choppy" and not conducive, but the new school will allow better fluidity and organization between the rooms by being able to separate elementary, middle and high schoolers.

"Every area of ages will have its own section of the building," she said.

One cool part of Trinity is its dedication to animals and science, which the new building will allow them to explore more. The school has purchased a 1,000 gallon shark tank that will be built into the wall between the library and hallway. While it'll take a few months for the water to be able to hold sharks, the school will have other forms of marine life in there.

"We do a lot with animals because the kids love the animals, so we incorporate creative writing, we incorporate science, we incorporate most subjects [like] social studies into all of these animals because they're from all over the world," said Moore.

While construction for the new school will be finished this week, only some of the grades will be moving there the beginning of December. In January, third through 12 graders will be making the transition, and then first and second graders will be joining them in August 2014.

Trinity will be building a detached gym some time in the future, which will determine when the school's preschoolers and kindergarteners will merge with the new location, too.

The public is welcome to see and tour the new location Saturday, Dec. 14, during the Trinity's Christmas festival and open house from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Moore also invites students and non-students out to Trinity's community-wide night classes on reptiles, science and more to learn and use the school's resources. Specific dates and times will be determined.
