State Champion Grayson Rams Return to the Football Field This Weekend

Corky Kell Classic Saturday is the big ticket this weekend. Returning state AAAAA Champions Grayson Rams join Brookwood, North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge in match-ups this weekend.

The Gwinnett football season may open with a limited schedule of games this weekend, but fans will be treated to some awesome matchups.

The highlight is the annual Corky Kell Classic Saturday at the Georgia Dome, where four of Gwinnett's best programs will be on display:

  • vs. McEachern, 11:45 a.m.
  • vs. Colquitt Co., 2:30 p.m.
  • vs. Camden Co., 5:30 p.m.
  • vs. Walton, 8:30 p.m.

According to the Georgia High School Football Daily newsletter, the last four big-school state champions played in the Corky Kell the same season, including Grayson last year and Brookwood in 2011.

Tickets are $15 at the gate. The games will also be broadcast by Georgia Public Broadcasting.

Most schools open their regular seasons next Friday, Aug. 31.
