New School Campus Offering Unique Learning Experience Breaks Ground in Loganville

The new Trinity Prep School, which plans to incorporate a shark and stingray tank, had a ground breaking for its new 9-acre campus on Commerce Drive in Loganville on Monday.

Trinity Prep School, currently located at 4546 Atlanta Highway in Loganville, broke ground Monday on the new 9-acre campus soon to be located at Commerce Drive in Loganville.

"We are moving to the new location due to growth," said Tammy Moore, founder of Trinity Prep School. "We opened 14 years ago and have expanded to another location on Highway 78 and that location was just temporary until we could build."

Moore said the school currently has 200 students and each class has a 14-student maximum. It currently serves students from first grade through to nineth grade, and will add a grade each year until those students graduate. A second location, on Hodges Street, serves students toddler through kindergarten and will continue to house those students, Moore said.

One of the unique features of the new campus will be a 500-gallon saltwater tank, in keeping with the school's program of teaching about God's creatures in a hands on way.

"Trinity uses Abeka as a basis but incorporates our own curriculum that we have developed over the years," Moore said, adding Trinity Prep also provides a unique "hands on" experience to learning. "We focus on individual learning styles and incorporate over 18 different animals into our program. The new building will also include a 500-gallon saltwater tank that will be home to four different sharks and two large stingrays that will be seen from the hall and library. We will also house several touch tanks at both locations."

The animals already at the current campus include a 100-pound Sulcata Tortise and several other reptiles.

"We will open up several classes this coming year to homeschool families and provide educational birthday parties and evening events to the community," Moore said, adding the the school is GAC accredited. "We are extremely excited to be moving to this permanent location. We have planned many things that had to be put on hold until a better facility was available and then we came across the 9-acres on commerce drive and the rest is history."

The builder, school faculty, students and parents were joined by city officials for the ground breaking ceremony. Moore said they hope to have the school ready for occupation sometime in September.
