UPDATE: LMS Principal Steps Down

Walton County Public Schools is reporting that Russell Brock, principal of Loganville Middle School, has requested a transfer to the maintenance department for personal reasons. The school has released two statements regarding this move.

UPDATE: Walton County Public Schools released the following statement as an update.

Concerns involving the administration were brought to the school system’s attention.  The district looked into these concerns and, while they could not be substantiated, it was mutually agreed by both system and school administration that a change in administration was in the best interests of the school.

Walton County Public Schools released a statement confirming that Loganville Middle School principal Russell Brock has requested a transfer to a position in the maintenance department. The reason given for this request is only that it is "for personal reasons."

"The transfer has been granted pending final approval by the board of education.  The district will be interviewing candidates for the position of principal in the near future and in the meantime assistant principal Karen Thompson will be in charge," WCPS said in a released statement. "Loganville Middle School has a record of excellence and high academic achievement to be proud of. We appreciate the support of the community during this transition and look forward to another outstanding year at LMS."

This move came suddenly and has spawned much speculation, but WCPS is not going beyond its official statement - at least at this time.

So what's the rumor on the street? If there's more to the story, We The People have a right to know.

As soon as I can confirm it as more than a rumor, I'll update the story Georgia Republican.

Can't we just chalk it up as personal? Why do we always have to be in someone else's business? Would you like your personal business aired all over Walton County? Don't you think if he had done something inappropriate, he would have been arrested or it would be plastered all over the news? People just wanna think the worst of someone. Give him his privacy. Don't start rumors.

Thank you Rona, that was my thoughts exactly.

He was having affair with employee is the rumor!!!

When students are passing the rumor it is a big deal as he was suppose to be role model and leader.

He did do something inappropriate. He had an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate at his school. This is not a rumor nor is it the first time he has done this. It wouldn't take much investigating to find this out.

Every public school staff sign a code of ethics with there contract, we as a public have no rights to know what happen with him. But, my problem with this is: was he ask to step down or be fired, or did he ask to be moved to another area. I believe in this type of closed door situations, he was told to leave the school voluntarily or be fired! I don't think he did anything illegal, but I do believe he broke his code of ethics contract. For some reason Walton county does not fire principals they just be reassign! WOW! Always a coverup in the school system.

It's a shame this happened and I do feel for the faculty, staff and students at LMS as they surely do not need or want this type of attention on their school. I would not know Dr. Brock if I fell over him. However, something doesn't seem to be right or just in this story. Does anyone know if a teacher has really been fired in all this while Dr. Brock has been transferred? If that is the case, why are the people of Walton County not arming themselves with pitchforks for allowing people with no scruples to be the in charge of our children?
Sharon Swanepoel October 04, 2012 at 03:02 PM
Mrs. West, I was assured by Kim Embry, spokesperson for the school, that no female teacher or administrator has been fired. The moves that they voted on, sort of in code, are not yet posted on the website so I can't see whether there were any resignations. It is possible someone else was transferred over this - they didn't vote on just one transfer, but all are still in code until they are posted on the website.
Sharon Swanepoel October 04, 2012 at 04:04 PM
Mrs. West, I missed that it has indeed been posted. It would appear that nobody else from LMS was transferred or terminated. Here is the link to where you will find it. http://www.boarddocs.com/wcps/Board.nsf/files/8YQLVH585FEE/$file/Transfer%20Personnel.pdf

It is not a rumour. He was having an affair, It is in direct violation of professional standards. Sharon, watch the board docs for the NEXT meeting. These folks are sneaky. They are not stupid. They know we will figure out they are lying. This was a "special - called" session. The minutes reflect that session. Also, Sharon, there is a much BIGGER picture that needs to be painted here. This is NOT an isolated incidence of cover up. This goes on ALL the time. I am sure you remember the lynch issue. Nothing was reported correctly until you ran the post story. She did nothing wrong, she did nothing wrong, she did nothing wrong three times the denial before the rooster crowed. And then what, our bad she was suspended. Oh, and by the way she requested a transfer? How is it that law breakers, criminals, and unethical individuals are allowed to request transfers, but the ones that stand up for what they believe in are branded with a scarlet letter "A". That is the bigger picture. Not Brock, nor Lynch, but Hobbs. Sharon, I implore you to paint that picture for the citizens of Walton County.

@Catalyst Saw your posts on the Walton Ladies Home JoURINAL TRIBEune. Brian took me off there sometime ago. Something about my efficacy ?? I encourage you to post invitations to those still on WLHJ to join you on the Patches. There is still enough need for kitty litter and fish wrap to keep the TRIBE alive. :<)
