UPDATE: LMS Principal Steps Down

Walton County Public Schools is reporting that Russell Brock, principal of Loganville Middle School, has requested a transfer to the maintenance department for personal reasons. The school has released two statements regarding this move.

UPDATE: Walton County Public Schools released the following statement as an update.

Concerns involving the administration were brought to the school system’s attention.  The district looked into these concerns and, while they could not be substantiated, it was mutually agreed by both system and school administration that a change in administration was in the best interests of the school.

Walton County Public Schools released a statement confirming that Loganville Middle School principal Russell Brock has requested a transfer to a position in the maintenance department. The reason given for this request is only that it is "for personal reasons."

"The transfer has been granted pending final approval by the board of education.  The district will be interviewing candidates for the position of principal in the near future and in the meantime assistant principal Karen Thompson will be in charge," WCPS said in a released statement. "Loganville Middle School has a record of excellence and high academic achievement to be proud of. We appreciate the support of the community during this transition and look forward to another outstanding year at LMS."

This move came suddenly and has spawned much speculation, but WCPS is not going beyond its official statement - at least at this time.
