Gwinnett School Substitutes to be Called at Push of a Button

GCPS adds software program to facilitate substitute teacher placement process.

By Patch Editor Faye Edmundson

Effective this school year, Gwinnett County Public Schools is implementing a new software program that will automatically notify substitute teachers needed the next day with the touch of a button.

The Automated Substitute Placement System will eliminate the need for a teacher or school clerk to manually call a list of individuals until a substitute teacher is found, placed and provided lesson plans and instructions.

“We are pleased that we are finally able to support our local school principals and teachers with this tool that they have been asking for some time now,” said Dr. Frances Davis, GCPS chief human resources officer in a press release announcing the new system.

“During these tough budget times, our local schools are doing so much more, and the time of our teachers and staff members is that much more valuable. This new tool will free our teachers and give them the time to invest it where it’s needed—in the classroom with our students.”

The software system also will provide the following benefits:
