Gwinnett County 5th Graders Improve Already High Scores on Writing Test

The scores are among the top in the nation.

Gwinnett County Public School (GCPS) fifth graders have traditionally excelled on state writing tests, ranking Gwinnett elementary students among the top in the state.

The school system's average passing rate was 93 percent, an increase over last year's average.  Of particular interest, according to a recent press release, is the success of Gwinnett students in scoring at the highest performance level.

Twenty-four percent of Gwinnett students scored in the “Exceeds” performance level compared to eleven percent statewide.
