GSMST to Choose Next Freshman Class by Lottery

Since 696 students registered for the incoming freshman class at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, a lottery on Feb. 13 will choose the 350 students who will be accepted.

Next year’s freshman class at Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology – a Gwinnett County charter school - will be chosen by lottery on Monday, Feb. 13. Of the 696 students who registered by the Feb. 3, 2012 deadline, 350 will be randomly chosen. This will be done by a lottery scheduled for 7:30 a.m. at the school district’s Instructional Support Center in Suwanee.

In a press release, Gwinnett County Public School officials said each applicant has been assigned a lottery number and notified of that number and the details of the lottery. The lottery drawing is open to the public, but students and their parents don’t have to be present to qualify. Those selected will be notified by email and mail. All 696 numbers will be drawn and the remaining 346 put on a waiting list.

GSMST opened in 2007 and graduated its first class in May 2011.
