Grayson Tech Students Find Unique Way to Thank Veterans

They are offering a Legacy of Voice and photo restoration of precious memories during a Community Day of Service.

Students from the technical education program at Grayson High School have found a unique way to use their skills to constructively thank veterans for their service this year.

They are offering, free of charge, two innovative ways for these heroes to be honored for their service during a Community Day of Service on Nov. 10.

Student from the Grayson Tech Music Technology and Music Recording classes are offering recording sessions to veterans. The veterans are invited to spend some time at Grayson Tech on the Grayson High school Campus to record themselves telling stories or otherwise capturing memories to preserve for their loved ones and themselves. Veterans can document their service to our country and record a legacy and keepsake for future generations.

Students are setting aside 30-minute sessions during the day Thursday, starting at 8 a.m. They have suggested questions to start if the veteran is not comfortable with speaking freely. The recording will be edited and transferred to a CD with appropriate music and then mailed to the veteran.

Anyone interested in participating in Grayson Tech’s “Legacy of Voice” can email grayson_tech_programs@gwinnett.k12.ga.us.

The commercial photography students are also using their skills to thank those who have served the country – by restoring photographs of veterans that still hold precious memories but haven’t quite withstood the test of time.

Students are offering to restore the first 100 photos of veterans received as their contribution to Grayson Tech's Community Service Day. Photos can be emailed to grayson_tech_programs@gwinnett.k12.ga.us. Photos scanned in must be at 600 dpi in jpeg format.
