There is a big game in the Loganville-Grayson area tonight as the nationally ranked  take on West Forsyth in the quarterfinals of the 2011-2012 GHSA Class AAAAA State Football Championship.

Kick off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. tonight as the Grayson Rams (12-0) take the field against the West Forsyth Wolverines (11-1). The undefeated Grayson Rams will take the home field advantage for the second week in a row in championship play as favorites to win. The Wolverines, however, are hoping for another upset like the one last week against fourth-ranked Hillgrove that moved them into this week’s play.

CBS’s Maxprep has team rankings and match-ups with Grayson, at No. 2 in the state, the obvious favorite. However, Rams’ head coach Mickey Conn is being cautious about his team getting too confident according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. If they do make it through to the next round, it will be the third time in four seasons that the Rams have played in the post-season semifinal.

Up until last week, two local high school teams were in the hunt for a championship with still in contention at that time and preparing to face Unity Christian School from Rome in the Independent Christian Schools of Georgia/Alabama championship. CCA, however, was denied the shot at back-to-back championships when Unity took home the title in a four-overtime thriller at Hawkins field.
