Four Loganville area schools were among the eight Walton County Public Schools that earned the state’s 2012 Title 1 Distinguished School recognition. In total, 824 schools in Georgia received this honor.

"These schools are showing that high expectations, coupled with effective educators in the building, produce outstanding student achievement," state Superintendent of Schools John Barge said in a press release. "With the academic bar increasing each year, it is not easy to continue making AYP. These 824 schools have proven that it can be done even when there are challenges."

A Title I school earns the title of “Distinguished School” for making Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) under No Child Left Behind (NCLB) for three or more consecutive years. Title I schools receive federal funds to better serve their students, which include a higher percentage of students receiving free or reduced lunch.
