Signed Contracts to Buy Homes at Three-Year High, While 30-Year Mortgage Rates at Highest Level in Year

Are you looking to buy or sell? Patch can help.

It's good news for sellers and slightly bad news for prospective home buyers.

CBS News reports the number of Americans who signed contracts to buy homes reached its highest level in three years in April. The report says the increase signals growth in home sales in the coming months — positive news for Loganville and Grayson residents hoping to sell.

Meanwhile, USA Today reports the average rates on 30-year fixed mortgages jumped this week to the highest levels in a year — 3.81 percent, up from 3.59 percent last week. Still, the report says, rates remain relatively low by historical standards.
