Weather Alert - Wind Advisory and Freeze Watch

Wind Advisory for Sunday, Freeze Watch for Monday, and on top of that there is a high pollen alert for allergy sufferers. Walton and Gwinnett counties are in these weather alert areas, including the cities of Loganville and Grayson.

The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory and freeze warning for several counties in Georgia. According to weather.com, the wind advisory is in effect from noon until 6 p.m. Sunday, March 4, and the freeze watch will be in effect from Monday evening through to Tuesday morning.

The winds are reported to be northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts of up to 30 mph. The freezing temperatures are expected to be mid 20s to lowers 30s. The NWS warns the impact of these strong winds could be the blowing of unsecured objects. Also, weak trees could be blown down. Freezing temperatures could threaten early spring growth.

A wind advisory means a sustained wind speed of at least 20 with gusts of 35 mph or stronger are expeced. These could impact driving conditions, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution.

A freeze watch means conditions are favorable for a freeze event and preparation should be made to povide warmth for pets that are outside and sensitive vegitation and young trees should be protected.
