Banks, Jenkins Beat Incumbents in Runoff

In the Aug. 21 Runoff election in Walton County, Mark Banks beat incumbent District 2 Commissioner Chuck Bagley and challenger Richard Jenkins beats incumbent coroner Joseph Page.

In the Walton County District 2 Commission Race incumbent Commissioner Chuck Bagley was defeated in the runoff by challenger Mark Banks. With 455 out of 741 votes cast, Banks got 61.4 percent of the vote.

"I thank my wife Fran and all my supporters for every effort they put forth," Bagley said in a released statement. "I thank the voters of District 2 for allowing me to serve the past 3 ½ years. I have never lost an election. I don’t know what to say except I have to be in Macon in the morning to assist in preparing the AACG Policy Platform. On Friday, I will be in Gainesville GA. with three judges from the Alcovy Judicial Circuit to review the Hall County Adult Felony Drug Court."

Bagley said he would have a comment next week. He thanked Banks personally for running a clean campaign.

The challenger was also successful in the race for Walton County coroner. Incumbent coroner Joseph Page was defeated by Richard Jenkins who got 1,313 or 60.87 percent of the 2,157 votes casts

These results are unofficial without the inclusion of absentee ballots.
