Voices from the City: Loganville Police Chief Mike McHugh

In response to three questions, which will routinely be asked of city officials, here is what Loganville Police Chief Mike McHugh had to say.

Officials in Loganville and Grayson will be asked to respond to three questions from time to time. This will give residents the opportunity to find out a little more about what is going on in the city - and to get to know their public officials a little better. Here is what Loganville Police Chief Mike McHugh had to say.

Question 1 - What is new in your department?

Along with the purchase of three new patrol vehicles (Dodge Chargers), we also have a couple of new officers. Officers Andrew (Drew) Smith and Brandon Hitchcock are welcomed additions to the department and assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division. We are proud to have them as new family members and look forward to their service to the community.

Question 2 - What is something Loganville residents should know?

I would like all citizens to remember to lock their vehicles in their yards and driveways at night. Over the past few months, we have experienced a few incidents of items being taken from vehicles at night while parked at the owner's residence. In practically every instance, vehicles that were entered were left unlocked while locked vehicles in the same areas were left untouched.

Question 3 - What is your favorite way to relax?

My two main methods of relaxation are playing guitar and making custom knives along with other metal fabrication. I love many different genres of music but particularly like to play Blues, Southern and Classic Rock.Β  In addition to handcrafting custom hunting knives, I also enjoy light metal fabrication and welding metals such as aluminum, stainless steel and titanium.
