Vines Gardens Will Have Free Event For National Train Day

Gwinnett Parks and Recreation is offering a free family day event at the Vines Gardens miniature railroad in honor of National Train Day.

Gwinnett County Parks & Recreation will celebrate National Train Day from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday with a free event at in Loganville.

Visitors can tour the gardens, which include statuaries and an oriental garden, and crafts, ice cream and hot dogs will be available for the children. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic lunch.

Volunteer engineers will have information sessions on trains and the model train hobby as well as demonstrations on the outdoor garden railroad.

The Vines Garden Railroad is the largest in the southeast. It features a “G” scale model railroad with more than 1,000 feet of track, a 25- foot suspension bridge, tunnels and viaduct an airport, towns and villages. A “G” scale Thomas the Train will run all day Saturday and is expected to delight the preschoolers.
