Special Weather Advisories

There are two weather alerts in the local area, including Walton and Gwinnett.

The National Weather Service has issued two weather warning for the local area, including Walton and Gwinnett counties.

The first is a wind advisory that remains in effect from now until 1 a.m. Tuesday in north and central Georgia. Expect winds from the northwest at 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph. These winds are expected to diminish as the night wears on. A wind advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 20 mph or gusts to 35 mph or stronger are expected. The NWS is warning that winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Drivers are advised to use extra caution.

In a second advisory - a Special Weather Statement - the NWS is warning of very cold wind chill readings expected Tuesday morning for a area north of a line from Hamilton to Forsyth to Washington.
