Road Construction Projects Suspended For Holiday Weekend

According to GDOT officials, construction projects on Georgia roads will be put on hold from Friday until Tuesday morning.

Motorists traveling anywhere in Georgia over the July Fourth weekend will not be hampered by road construction projects.

Teri Pope, communications officer for District 1 of the Georgia Department of Transportation, said in a press release any lane closures for construction projects would end at 5 a.m. Friday and not resume until 5 a.m. July 5. It is possible that emergency maintenance or crashes could require some lane closures, but any routine maintenance or construction projects would be suspended for the duration of the holiday weekend.

The lane closures on Interstate 85 in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties for the new Express Lane System are scheduled to continue through the end of Wednesday and overnight hours into Thursday of this week.Β
