Recall: Throw Out These Salads

Dole Hearts of Romaine are being recalled for possible risk of Listeria monocytogenes.

Just in time for the 4th of July cookout season, Dole is recalling 2,598 cases of bagged hearts of romaine, coded 0540N165112A or B, with a use-by date of June 26 and UPC 7143000956 due to a possible health risk of Listeria monocytogenes.

The salads were distributed in nine states, including Pennsylvania, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.

According to the FDA, no illnesses have been reported in association with the recall, but the bagged salads are being recalled as a precaution due to “isolated instance in which a sample of Dole Hearts of Romaine salad yielded a positive result for Listeria monocytogenes in a random sample test conducted by the FDA.”

No other bagged salads are included in the recall.

Consumers who have the product should not consume it, and should discard it. Consumers with questions should call the Dole Food Company Consumer Response Center at 800-356-3111 from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday.
