There are municipal elections in Loganville and in Grayson. Both deal with the issue of distilled spirits. In Loganville the only item on the ballot is the question of whether or not to allow for a package store in the City of Loganville. The issue was discussed at the city council work session on Monday and is up for consideration at Thursday's City Council meeting.
However, should it pass officials say it is likely to be tabled until some issues on how to issue the license is worked out. At a meeting prior to the vote, officials had considered issuing two licenses instead of just one, and the draft ordinance was worded to take that into account. One license would be issued for each of the counties that encompass Loganville, Gwinnett and Walton.
In Grayson, voting in the municipal election will be from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Grayson City Hall at 475 Grayson Parkway. Both Candidates for City Council Posts qualified unopposed but there will be a . Wine and distilled spirits are allowed at the moment, but should the measure fail, no alcoholic beverages at all will be allowed to be sold by the package on a Sunday in the city of Grayson.
