Gwinnett Fire Ranks Growing
Department graduated 24 new recruits at a ceremony Monday.
Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services added 24 new members to its ranks on Sept. 12.
The new firefighters – 23 men and one woman – will work in fire stations across the county. Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said two of the firefighters are assigned to fire stations in the Loganville/ Grayson area.
“Firefighter Benjamin Pierce went to Station #28 on Rosebud Road in Loganville and Firefighter Jared Joiner went to Station #8 in Grayson,” Rutledge said.

According to Rutledge, the group is the first class of Gwinnett fire recruits to pass firefighter and emergency medical technician state level certification testing on the first attempt.
"We are proud of the exemplary training and the many accomplishments of our newest firefighters," he said.

At the graduation ceremony Monday, Fire Chief Bill Myers reminded the new recruits that being a firefighter is about honor and service to the citizens of Gwinnett County.
