The Grayson City Council voted unanimously Monday to put the issue of Sunday retail sales of wine and malt beverages on the ballot in November.

became the latest city in Georgia to let voters decide on whether to allow for the retail sale of wine and malt beverages in the city limits on a Sunday.

In a unanimous vote Monday, Grayson council members approved an ordinance that allows for voters to have their say in November on whether retail establishments can sell beer, wine or other malt beverages on a Sunday.

“This same ordinance provides that should it fail, it will become null and void, and if it passes, the ordinance will be in place and the alcohol ordinance will be amended automatically,” said Grayson Mayor Jim Hinkle. “This is because of everything the legislature did.”
