Grayson Cellars LLC to be First Grayson Package Store

Richard Tucker, owner of Beverage Superstore in Suwanee, will also own the first package store in the city of Grayson. His was the successful application out of the three submitted to city council officials.

to be issued in the city of Grayson, officials voted unanimously of Suwanee businessman Richard Tucker.

Applications were submitted by Joe Kalish, owner of , Heather Weaver, co-owner of Bottle Shop & Liquor-Madison in Madison, and Tucker. At the end of the night, Tucker was the one who went home with the license to proceed and Kalish and Weaver went home disappointed. Both Kalish and Weaver said they would take stock of their positions before deciding on the next step.

Kalish had a lot vested in the project having Weaver said she and her husband, Russ, too had a lot riding on the license. They have a contract on their package store in Madison since it had been their intention to move to Grayson had their application been successful.

All three applicants had a spot picked out for their proposed stores and contracts pending on the properties in the event theirs was the store chosen. Some Loganville officials attended the meeting to see how the process played out. . He said interest has been expressed in the idea. However, it would require a petition drive by a potential applicant and citizen approval by way of a referendum first.
