Georgia Residents Petition White House to Secede from the U.S.

White House forum draws attention from disappointed voters in more than a dozen states.

Considering Mitt Romney easily won Georgia on Nov. 6, it's not surprising that there are some disappointed Republicans in the Peach State.

Residents of Georgia and more than a dozen other states have filed petitions to secede from the United States, according to media reports.

Residents of Alabama, New York, Michigan, Texas and other states have filed the petitions under the "We The People" program, featured on the White House website, according to the Huffington Post.

The Georgia petition, which already has more than 20,000 signatures, asks to "Peacefully grant the State of Georgia to withdraw from the United States of Americ and create it own NEW government."

The website allows citizens to make a petition for a variety of issues, including recognizing sign language as a language or refusing foreign aid to Uganda.

Several petitions have been created since Friday, with individuals requesting that more than a dozen states be allowed to secede. The list includes AlabamaAlaska,ArizonaArkansasCaliforniaColoradoDelawareFloridaGeorgiaIndianaKansas,KentuckyLouisianaMichiganMississippiMissouriMontanaNebraskaNew JerseyNew YorkNevadaNorth CarolinaNorth DakotaOhioOklahomaOregon,PennsylvaniaSouth CarolinaSouth DakotaTennesseeTexasUtahWest Virginia and Wyoming.

According to the Huffington Post, The White House website explains of the review process for "We the People" petitions that get 25,000 signatures in a 30-day period: "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response."

Texas reached the 25,000 mark on Monday.

How do you feel about these secession petitions? Have you signed one?

No I have not sign!! This is so funny! I think everyone who sign should leave the country, one less person we as taxpayers would have to pay for! To much hate, complaining, division, and lack of intelligent. People pray for our leaders and pray for the human race. My Lord and savior has all power! People who spread chaos, confusion and hate, fall on your knees to seek faith and pray.

Well I signed. As for leaving the country maybe you should consider it. I served this country for twenty years to preserve the right to do this. So if you don't believe in the right to free speech, petitions being part of free speech, then pack your bags and go.

I was born and raised in the south and my souther heritage is a big part in my life. But most of all I am an American. My grandpa fought for this country in WW2 not because he was drafted but because this was his home. When things got tough he didn't just quit and turn his back, he did what was right. now as we face another problem we don't need to just quit on America we need to come together as one nation under God. Stand for something or fall for anything. I my self stand for America
John Sudduth November 14, 2012 at 12:48 PM
WE can't come together with a fascist president or with half the population that are freeloaders and don't take responsibility for themselves, that want to live off the half that work and take responsibility for themselves.
John Sudduth November 14, 2012 at 12:51 PM
The ones that leave will be the biggest taxpayers, no greedy, freeloader will leave.

Where can I find this petition?
Ashley Burchfield November 14, 2012 at 02:05 PM
Hey Evelyn, before you talk about a lack of intelligenCE, maybe you should learn how to properly spell. Also, you need to learn how to put together simple sentences properly and use the proper grammar. You just made yourself look very unintelligent and it disgusted me. Are you even really a taxpayer our do you just want Obama in office so you can continue to collect your food stamps and cash assistance without a problem?
Ashley Burchfield November 14, 2012 at 02:07 PM
Im sorry...OR. Not ”our”.
Evelyn Smith November 14, 2012 at 02:24 PM
John just in case you didn't know the most high income America's voted for President Obama! I am a taxpayer, my husband is 30 year retired Air Force man, we support our country and love our country regardless who is the president! If you want to solve the freeloading problem in this country start educating people in your family, neighborhood, community, and state. We as American's do more complaining than being thankful.
Evelyn Smith November 14, 2012 at 02:42 PM
Wow! First, not on welfare! I admit not an English major. You think I am on welfare because i didn't sign the petition? I disgust you because you are upset because Obama is president. It's people like you I pray for first in my prayers. Ashley, it's best not to assume people are on welfare and entitlements because they don't support your cause. By the way Ashley try solving problems and creating ideas that's what changes things in this country! Be bless Ashley

It's ok, we all make mistakes!
Evelyn Smith November 14, 2012 at 03:00 PM
Great you serve this country! Thank you for serving and protecting our country, if you want to change things create solutions. Signing this petition want solve the state debt that our governor put us in. This want solve the educatin problem in our state. This want solve the number of people in this state that are unemployed. So, John what do you want solved by signing this petition!
Kyler Hosch November 14, 2012 at 03:37 PM
If we spent this much time praying for the president instead of gettin mad about it, maybe things might be different. My God can do anything, so he can turn this country in the right direction
John Sudduth November 14, 2012 at 03:51 PM
Signing this will show this fascist, criminal, fraud for a president, that he can't fool all the people, it sends a message. I hope the courts pursue this presidents obvious criminal acts.
DAN THE MAN YOU KNOW WHO I AM November 14, 2012 at 11:30 PM
Yur a gramor natzee an that iz a sine of fastizm. I spelled it wrong for you so you could call me stupid too. By the way I want to sign the petition too. Please don't base an argument on grammer again. It makes you look bad.
Evelyn Smith November 15, 2012 at 03:06 AM
Dan the man I didn't make argument about spelling or grammar, it was your pal Ashley. I am not stupid! I think you are very smart!
Steelerfever November 15, 2012 at 06:05 AM
Evelyn, I signed the petition but don't worry I don't need your handouts or " your" tax money. I work and pay my own taxes and I'm not leaving the country either. I am proud to be an American but ashamed of the leadership , well lack there of. He can't even put his hand on his heart during the pledge and has tried to take God out of everthing. You should be questioning his patriotism and loyalty. People are signing the petition to send a message that we want things to change. I voted and have the right to demand more. To demand better.
