Armed Personal Defense Class

Walton County Sheriff Joe Chapman is offering an armed personal defense course for the citizens of Walton County from 9:00am - 1:00pm at the Walton County Sheriff's Office at the Law Enforcement complex at 1425 S. Madison Ave. in Monroe. The class will meet in the training room.

In the past the WCSO has received a positive response to this course. The training will consist of instruction on the legalities of buying, owning, carrying and using handguns for self defense, safety with firearms, the fundamentals of how to shoot a handgun, how to clean and care for a handgun and includes actual live firing of the handgun. Instructors will be members of the WCSO and targets, hearing and eye protection and handout materials will be furnished by WCSO. Students are required to bring their own handgun and ammunition. However, arrangements can be made for those who may not own a handgun to use one from the WCSO.

The cost of the class is $20 a person and future classes will be offered on an "as needed" basis. The classes will be limited to the first 24 people who apply. Anyone interested can pre-register by calling the WCSO at 770-267-1434.
