Loganville City Council members voted Thursday to change the flow of traffic downtown on Covington and Pecan streets to one way between Broad and Main streets. According to City Manager Bill Jones, the change will begin at about 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 14.
"We want to begin work on the Town Green as soon as possible and we will need to do this first," Councilwoman Michelle Lynch said in making the motion at Thursday's City Council meeting.
Traffic will flow toward C.S. Floyd down Pecan Street from Main Street to Broad Street and away from C.S. Floyd on Covington Street from Broad Street back toward Main Street. Officials said there also would be parking on both sides of Covington Street. Contrary to the drawing, however, there would not be parking on the Town Green side of Pecan Street. Main Street and Broad Street would remain two-way streets.
Jones said barricades and signage would be up by Friday afternoon in order for motorists to get prepared for the change in traffic patterns.
