Walton Sheriff's Deputies Raid Meth Lab
Narcotics Investigators make five arrests, and close down dangerous lab
The narcotics division of the Walton County Sheriff’s Department made a definitive move to keep the citizens of the county safe on Monday morning by raiding a house that was suspected to be a lab for manufacturing methamphetamine.
Sheriff’s deputies served a search warrant at 2066 Highway 138 outside of Monroe early Monday morning. The bust was a culmination of a 6-month undercover investigation performed by narcotics investigators, and turned up more than one ounce of “cooked” methamphetamine and three firearms, leading to five arrests.
Residing at the location were William (54) and Cynthia Elaine Calmes (51), who were both arrested and charged with Trafficking in Methamphetamine and Manufacturing Methamphetamine.

Also in residence was Amanda Hutchins (25), who was also arrested for Manufacturing Methamphetamine. Nicholas Barbee (20) of Eatonton and Cody Joiner (18) of Buford were charged as well.
“The Georgia Bureau of Investigation’s Clandestine Lab Team (CLRT) was called to the scene to assist with removal of the hazardous materials,” ssif WCSO Chief Deputy Bruce Wright. The CLRT is a specially-trained team of scientists who assist law enforcement with the safety assessment, analysis, and prosecution of illegal drug manufacturing labs.

Due to the danger and hazardous elements involved with serving warrants of this magnitude, members of Walton Fire Rescue and Emergency Medical Services were also on scene to provide emergency intervention, if necessary.
