Walton County Resident Shot During Armed Robbery

A Virginia Way resident gave chase through the neighborhood following an armed robbery, shooting another one of the victims of the attack by mistake.

A Walton County resident opened fire on an armed robber this week, hitting another one of the victims by mistake.

According to the Walton County Sheriff’s Office, two black males held the victims in a Virginia Way home this week, taking $2,000 in cash before leaving the residence. The victims gave chase through the neighborhood with one of the victims firing off two rounds, hitting another victim in the neck. The injured victim was airlifted from Walton County Regional Medical Center to Atlanta Medical Center.

The suspects got away in a black Chevy Cavalier and law enforcement officials believe they were possibly headed back to North Carolina. WCSO Chief Deputy Bruce Wright said he couldn’t comment any further since this is still an active investigation. However, it not believed that it was a random attack and officials don’t believe the suspects are still in the area.
