Police Following Up On Leads in Murder of Grayson Teen

The father of 14-year-old Grayson High School student Paul Sampleton arrived home early Wednesday afternoon to find the body of his son in their Grayson home. The teen had been shot to death.

Gwinnett County police worked overnight at the home of a Grayson teen who was shot to death Wednesday afternoon. Cpl. Jake Smith identified the victim as 14-year-old Paul Sampleton, a freshman at Grayson High School. Police said his father came home at about 2:30 p.m. Wednesday to find his son's body in their Grayson home on Haynescrest Drive and called police. The school was on early release for the last day of school.

Police said Wednesday they were working some good leads, but declined to say any more at that time. WSBTV reports that investigators stayed on the scene, working with K9s in the area in and around the Grayson town homes. Smith said there was evidence of a robbery, but that they were not sure whether the teen was targeted or had walked in on a robbery. WSBTV also reported that friends of the teen believe the murder could have been over shoes. Sampleton was reported to have an extensive shoe collection and frequented a Facebook site called ATATF - ADDICTED TO ALL THINGS FRESH. The site is a swap and sell high-priced items, including shoes.
