Tree That Fell During Storm Just Missed Loganville Resident

A tree fell on a home on C.S. Floyd Road during Thursday's storm, barely missing a resident who was home at the time.

When Ken Crawford stepped out of his home on C.S. Floyd during , he didn't expect a tree to come down almost on top of him - but that's what happened.

"It was about 6:20 (p.m.), before the rain started, and I heard a pop, pop sound - I thought it was hail," Crawford said, adding he opened the back door and stepped out to see what it was. "That was when I saw the tree and I jumped back inside."

Nobody was hurt, but the fallen tree damaged the roof and side of the home and a car parked next to the house. It also brought down some electric wires. Crawford said part of the same tree fell about a month ago, leaving him concerned about its stability.

"It's a big tree, and there's a lot of green on the top, but you can see it's about rotted inside," he said.

The power was disconnected to avoid any potential electrical accident and Crawford ran a generator Friday while he waited for the insurance company to assess the damage before he could remove the tree.
