Toys Taken From Walton County Charity

Attendees of Jingle Jog on Saturday are asked to bring toys to help replace those stolen.

Cindy Little, director of said some items were taken Monday from the FISH4Kids building in Monroe where volunteers were working.

"We think it was a snatch and run while people were working in the back," Little said. "When police came to check it out, nothing had been broken into."

Little said some of the items missing including toys for newborns and "red electronic radios" for older children. These toys were for the Secret Santa Program. Little said they had a break in recently and that time the alarm did go off, but the perpetrators had fled by the time police arrived.

"That time they took our donation jars off the counter," Little said.

While they are going through surveillance video to see if they can identify the perpetrators of this theft, Little said they are also adding more security cameras to help prevent future incidents.

In the meantime, people are asked to bring toys for newborns, and maybe some electronic radios or items for teenagers, to replace those stolen to Saturday's 7th Annual Jingle Jog for Autism. The event, which begins at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Loganville High School, raises funds every year for Families of Autism/Asperger's Care, Educate and Support. It also collects toys for the Walton County children's charity every year.

This year, thanks to an unknown Grinch or Grinches, there is a greater need for those toys.
