Teen Charged With Armed Robbery in Sneaker Murder Denied Bond

Achiel Morgan, 15, charged with armed robbery in an incident that resulted in the shooting death last year of fellow Grayson High School student, Paul Sampleton, 14, was denied bond Monday.

The three teens charged in connection with the Dec. 19, 2012 murder of 14-year-old Paul Sampleton have remained in jail since their arrest early in February. An attempt Monday to obtain bond for Achiel Morgan, 15, charged with armed robbery in connection with the incident, was not successful, according to The Gwinnett Daily Post.

Morgan's attorney argued that he had no prior convictions, but Gwinnett County Judge Debra Turner reportedly agreed with the prosecutor that a first offense of armed robbery that results in a murder is a significant risk to the community. The Gwinnett Daily Post reports that Morgan had admitted to his part in the plot, which was for he and Romaine Stewart, 18, to jump Sampleton at his door and restrain him while Larnell Sillah, 15, went in and robbed the home. Somewhere along the line a gun was introduced into the plan and Sampleton ended up dead. Sillah is charged with the murder.

Items stolen during the murder included about eight pair of sneakers, three flat-screen TVs a gaming system, clothes, a camera, headphones and a tablet.
