Sheriff's Office: With Entering Autos on Rise, Make Sure You Lock Your Cars

Many of the recent crimes were due to people leaving their vehicles unlocked.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said there has been an increase in entering auto thefts recently, and residents should make sure their cars are secured when parked.

The agency included this statement on its Community Information & Alerts email on Tuesday, April 1.

“Entering Auto Thefts are still a major concern for Walton County. Over the past few weeks we have noticed an increase in this area and we want to make the community aware of this information. Most are due to people leaving their vehicle doors unlocked. Please continue to lock your vehicle doors, and remember to keep valuables out of sight or out of the car. Please inform friends, family and co-workers of this safety precaution, so that we can decrease the Entering Auto problems here in Walton County. As always, if you suspect any suspicious activity, please call 9-1-1 immediately.”
