Police Blotter from the Loganville Police Department

The following arrest information was supplied by the Loganville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests were reported by the for the week ending June 6. 

May 31

  • A 33-year-old man from Lawrenceville was arrested and charged with driving under the influence (alcohol less safe) and failure to stop at a stop/yield sign. The subject was stopped by police after he failed to stop at the sign on C.S. Floyd Road at Pecan Street. Police officers reported a strong smell of alcohol and that he appeared unsteady on his feet. The man, however, said he’d been told by his attorney to “never take an alcohol test,” and refused any breath test. He was arrested and his car was towed.

June 1

  • A 19-year-old man from Loganville was arrested and charged with DUI (under age 21, .02 percent or more), possession or purchase of alcohol under 21, and possession of fraudulent license after an employee from the called 911 to report someone had attempted to purchase alcohol using fraudulent identification. Police were given details of the vehicle the person was in and the car was stopped as it was leaving the lot. The subject allegedly said the license he had presented, in the name of a 23-year-old, was given to him by some friends. It was reported that both he and a female passenger, also under 21, tested positive for alcohol and were booked at the Loganville Police Department before being released on a copy of the citations. The license was kept as evidence.

June 4

  • An 18-year-old man from Covington and two accomplices were arrested and charged with shoplifting (less than $300) after police were called to in connection with the shoplifting of magic cards. According to the report, all three men were in possession of a pack of magic cards, two valued at $18.15 each and one valued at $13.89. All three were charged and released on a copy of the citation.

  • A 51-year-old man from North Carolina was arrested and charged with DUI (first offense) and failure to maintain lane after members of the LPD were called by a Gwinnett County police officer to assist. The Gwinnett County police officer reported the man had crossed the yellow line several times, almost hitting another vehicle. He was stopped inside Loganville city limits. The man is reported to have claimed to have had two beers to drink but he failed the field sobriety test and tested at 0.269 grams on the Alco-sensor. He was arrested and transported to the Walton County jail.
