Nothing New to Report on Grayson Shooting, Police Say

Except to say that evidence at the scene confirmed it did indeed take place in downtown Grayson, Gwinnett police are not commenting any further on the April 26 shooting that sent a Loganville man to the hospital with a gunshot wound.

Police are still releasing little information regarding a shooting in downtown . Except to confirm that the incident did indeed take place at the location it was reported, no further details are available at this time.

"We did confirm the location by evidence found at the scene (shell casings)," said Gwinnett County Police Department spokesman Cpl. Ed Ritter.

It was confirmed from the police report that the victim in was 24-year-old Richard Gray of Loganville. He was allegedly shot sometime between 4 and 4:15 p.m. on April 26 while driving through Grayson. The incident happened at the intersection of Grayson Parkway and Rosebud Road. Gray was in a black Nissan Altima that is reported to have sustained damage in the incident.

The suspect is reported only as a black male driving an orange Dodge Challenger. Very little other information is contained in the report except that the investigation began after police were called to Eastside Medical Center in Snellville regarding a shooting. He sustained a gunshot would to the leg, but his injuries were not life threatening. A call to his home following his release from the hospital was not returned.

Grayson Mayor Jim Hinkle posted on Patch when it was first reported that from the initial investigation it , but police wouldn't confirm that. Police also wouldn't comment on whether it was random or whether the victim knew the shooter.

"We don't have anything new to report on this," Ritter said Wednesday.
